Hello everybody.
This is my first on-trip post!! So I arrived at Narita Airport at just before 1130 this morning and it took me right up until 1600 to find my hotel! After many train changes and wrong turns on the street I arrived. My shoulders are aching from having to carry that bloody rucsac.
Seems I had my dopey head on yesterday. Not only did I forget to take my Japanese guide book AND phrase book (latter replaced at Heathrow), I also forgot my torch, panic alarm(!) and my itenararies (sp?). So now I’m having to do most of research again using the PCs here at the hotel. No pictures as yet cos all I’ve seen since I got here is the inside of trains and airports - not so interesting.
My first meal in Japan consisted of various wares from two of the local supermarkets - a ham and, I think, cucumber sandwich (no crusts) and a Curry flavour “Cup Noodle.” I still have a mini tub of Pringles and a Kit-Kat upstairs, ready to eat. My room consists of three tatami mats on the floor with a matress on top of them. Really quite comfortable, though the pillow could be a bit softer. As soon as I checked in it was straight to bed for a couple of hours - jet lag is a bitch.
I’m attempting to cut short my stay here in Japan as I seem to have had too much confidence in the rail system. Connecting trains can be a long way from each other and if I miss one I could be stuck between Sapporo and Kyoto! My rail pass expires on the 16th of June and I don’t leave until the 19th so I’m going to try and get a flight out on the 17th instead. If it doesn’t happen - no matter, I’ll soldier on.
Right, best be off

Hi D
Glad you arrived safely.
Do you want me to email your itinerary to you? Might save a bit of effort.
Hope you enjoyed the Pringles and Kit Kat.
